About the Owners and Staff of Cascade Powder Cats
Jay Bright - Forecaster and Course Leader

Jay Bright

Jay Bright is a seasonal junkie who has been ski patrolling and guiding backcountry in the Sierras and Cascades for over 20 years. This year you can find  him at the CPC yurt digging in the snow, inspecting  grains, pouring over charts and graphs, and scribbling some sort of snow script. Nobody else knows exactly what it means but we are quite confident that he does, as he always seems to know where the best snow is! Jay is a professional member of AAA and holds an AIARE level 3 Avalanche and level 2 Avalanche course leader certifications.

Ryan Murray - Manager and Guide

Ryan was introduced to skiing by his parents at the age of two, and has worked and skied at Schweitzer, Squaw Valley, Bridger Bowl, and Kirkwood since he first moved out west from Chattanooga in 1998. Ryan is typically the guy seen answering his cell phone on the mountain... part of his job is to answer the phones when you call and he prefers to offer customers up to the minute condition reports by skiing on the job. In addition to scheduling groups and making sure everything is in line for your perfect powder day, Ryan can be found guiding clients, taking weather and snowpack observations, wrenching on snowcats, or digging out his snowmobile. Ryan's favorite part of the job... exploring our terrain while ski touring and searching for the perfect location for our next yurt!

Dane Caldwell - CPC Intern E-mail

Dane is a recent Recreation grad with a minor in business from WWU. He started helping us out last season, mostly driving skiburbans shoveling endless amounts of snow, and changing grousers. This dude grew up in the shadows of the Olympic Mts, exploring the backcountry surrounding Hurricane Ridge.  Presently he can be seen touring around Mt. Baker. Dane just completed his AIARE Level 2 and has a Wilderness First Responder. He is looking to start assistant guiding as soon as he shows the ability to talk about something besides snowboarding and skiing.
